33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)
God wants to add everything to our lives, but He has a prerequisite. He wants us to seek His kingdom and His righteousness first. So, what does that mean? Well, He loved us first, so He wants us to reciprocate that love back to Him and to others. We seek His kingdom by seeking His desires first in our lives. We must learn to live every minute for Him. No, this does not mean we have to go be missionaries….well, yes actually it does. But not like you are thinking. We can be missionaries in our own families, in our work, in school, wherever He has put us. We must be ambassadors of His love, this is what “but seek first” means.
I have been in business for a very long time. I too have been in some form of ministry for a long time. But the two, while different in concept, were the same in practice. I applied scripture and prayer to both. God lead me in both. I took Him with me no matter where I went and too I did my best to lead my family by seeking first His desire for them. This has to simply become a way of living for us. It is like getting fit or healthy, it must be a lifestyle, not just a fad diet or exercise program.
Reflect on: How you seek first God’s kingdom in the life you live day to day.
