13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding; (Proverbs 3:13 NKJV)

Where do we find wisdom? Knowledge is found in books and schools, but wisdom comes from either God or from learning by doing. I guess there is also wisdom gained that we learn from our elders, but even that wisdom requires that we act upon it to better understand it. So the man “who finds wisdom” is one who gains understanding.

Not everyone who finds wisdom necessarily will gain understanding. Without acting upon the wisdom we gain we can never fully understand its value. It is like taking our wealth and burying it, it gains no interest and becomes simply something we have not something we properly use. Wisdom is there for us to learn from by its use. What good is wisdom gained without it being wisdom used?
