Slaying Giants

48 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. (1 Samuel 17:48-49 NKJV)

David was just a boy when he went up against Goliath, but he did so with great courage knowing that God was on his side. In truth, this is the only way we can hope to slay the giants in our lives as well. We must know that God is on our side.

For this reason we are told to put on the armor of God each day. We cannot hope to slay the giants in our lives without God’s armor. Yes, David was too small to wear any armor when he went against his giant. But our giants tend to be less tangible and are often a byproduct of the enemy working against us. Thus, we need the full armor of God to fight the spiritual battles that will tend to come our way.

Reflect on: A battle in life you are facing or faced before and how God came to your aid. What stone did or will He provide for you to slay your giant?
