30 But when he saw [a]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:30-31 NKJV)
We focus on being saved from the storms of life when it may be that very storm we need to help us focus on what is important.
Storms can bring chaos, but they can also sharpen our focus. They can help us see where we were struggling even if we could not see past ourselves to our problem. The problem is that we focus so fully on our needs and what is happening that we can miss the bigger message in the storm.
Regardless, God promises to be with us throughout any of life’s storms. His desire is that we use the storm to focus our attention on what is important, Him. And storms have a way of zeroing our focus upon the One who can comfort us, save us and deliver us.
Reflect on: The bigger message in the storm you might be facing. Whether it is just a strong wind or full on chaos, what is God trying to teach?
