13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV)
When the days get long and our time feels short it can be difficult to abound in anything, much less hope. It can feel like we are just in survival mode to make it to the end of the week for, hopefully, a few days of rest before it all begins again. Even then, if we have a family the weekends can be filled with responsibilities as well. This too is why God set aside the Sabbath for us to rest, but we rarely take advantage of it.
So how do we abound in hope and get filled with all joy and peace.
Our scripture holds the key…it is in the God of hope and in believing that we are given this capability. Even when times are hectic, connecting with God in prayer and through reading scripture can create moments of peace, solitude and rest. We can be rejuvenated through short meditations on the Spirit and how He is guiding us through our hectic lives. We must set the oasis moments to regain our hope, joy and peace.
Reflect on: How you can take little decompression breaks in your day and learn to abound in hope.
