No Empty Returns

11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
    it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
    and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11 ESV)

I think often of this verse as I write these devotions. Both in posting a scripture and in writing a brief commentary, I know that God’s word has purpose. I often do not understand the extent of that purpose, but I never think that it is not there or that it will not succeed in where it is meant to reach. I type these words, but I do not create them, it is fully the Spirit inside.

We may not realize, nor ever fully comprehend how God is using us in our interactions. If we are open to His divine appointments, He will utilize us in ways we cannot imaging. When I look over the past thirty years I have done many things, held many roles that were ministry based. While I have never been a full time minister, I take my “vocation” seriously. I want to be available to God for what interactions He has planned for me. I do not believe anything I do in this vein returns back empty.

Reflect on: How God has used you over the years or how He may be seeking to use you now.
