Sunday Reflection: Answered Prayers

Our third granddaughter finally got to come home Friday from the NICU. She was born on Thanksgiving and spent 15 days there and many prayers were said over her during that time. She was healthy, thank God, but took a while to figure out how to get her feeding down before she was released.

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received[a] it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:24 ESV)

I believe God is true to His word. However, He does not always answer our prayers the way we might want. It can be difficult to read scripture like our’s today when God is not answering our prayers the way we want. But we must remember, God is not some genie in a bottle we rub to come out and grant our every wish. No, He is our sovereign Father and His ways are higher than our ways, His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

I also believe that God is looking for our faith in our prayers. We must believe before we receive. I was fearful about my granddaughters birth being a month early. But once she got through the trauma of birth I no longer feared for her. I knew that God would get her home healthy.

Reflect on: Do you believe in your prayers or are you simply throwing up Hail Marys and hoping for the best? Believe to receive.
