God’s Thanks

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
    Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever,
    and his faithfulness to all generations. (Psalm 100:4-5 ESV)

I held off my Thanksgiving devotional for a day for a few reasons. First, I wanted to take the day and think through all I was thankful for. Second, it was a day of waiting while our daughter-in-law gave birth to our third grandchild. She came into this world slowly and with some complications, but God is good, and He gave us a beautiful baby girl.

As I first comforted my son and then thanked God with him in prayer when she was born, I was given some time to look over the past year. It has been a year of great up’s and down’s. It was a year where I questioned many things, but also gave God thanks for many others. Sometimes we need the perspective a full 24 hours give us, maybe more, to really consider what we are thankful for.

Today, I sit again, contemplating the last 24 hours and the year in total and give thanks to God for all He continues to do.

Reflect on: The thanks you need to give to God for all He is doing for you.
