No More Pain

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b]and God himself will be with them as their God.[c]4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelations 21:3-4 ESV)

No more pain. That sounds pretty good to my weary old body. There are many who are suffering from disease and discomfort, and I know they look forward to a time when that pain is gone.

The other aspect of this is mental anguish. It is no false statement that mental struggles have been on the rise. We can experience periods where life is just a drudgery, we are simply slogging through the mud of life without any help in sight. Many feel misunderstood and others mislead or mistreated.

What can we do to deal with all of this today, knowing that the heavenly respite may be far away?

We can look to God and to His mercy and love. He may not take away all of our discomfort or anguish, but with Him beside us we can forge on and overcome.

Reflect on: The things that are keeping you down, causing you pain. Maybe you have prayed over these things but they have not been taken away. Pray that God’s love and mercy assuages your pain.
