Rendered To You

12    and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
For you will render to a man
according to his work. (Psalm 62:12 ESV)

We come to salvation not through works but through the saving grace and sacrifice of Christ. There is no other way to the Father, except through the Son. But that does not mean that God does not render to a man according to his work.

No, nothing we can do will gain us salvation. However, we will be judged by all we have done and have to account for it all. The idea of saving grace is that Jesus has paid for all we have done or will do that is not in line with God’s will. This is not a license to go on sinning, but His sacrifice and our love for Him should make us want to do better. To be moved by the Spirit, which now lives within us, to acts of love and mercy ourselves.

God knows that we still struggle with sin, but He is looking for us to desire to improve and work at being better.

Reflect on: Christ work in your life and what will be rendered to you.
