7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:7-8 ESV)
How do you pray? Do you go through a litany of things that you repeat day after day. Things that you believe you know the best outcome for and are just trying, through repetition, to get God to do?
Well, He really does not work that way.
You see, if we are truly like children as the scripture tells us we need to be, then God will know our needs without us asking. Should we pray to Him about them, of course. But we need to pray in such a way that it is clear we know He knows our needs and shows we are expectant upon His answer, “for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”
We need to show in our prayers that He knows what our needs are and we are trusting in Him, like a child, to work in our best interest.
Reflect on: Your prayer life and if you are just repeating prayers or praying like God knows your needs and you are thankful for His hand in your life.
