1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.[b] 2 Do not be conformed to this world,[c] but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2 ESV)
Present your bodies as a living sacrifice.
Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
If there ever was a best of breed work out routine it is these two scriptures. They tell us that we have two aspects of our physical self that need regular attention. Thus, we should be treating our bodies better and we surely need to focus on a right mental state.
We can tend toward thinking of the Bible as this old document meant for people who lived thousands of years ago. But it is a living breathing thing that holds just as much wisdom for today as it did for that time. And all of it is as relevant today as it was so long ago.
When we take the time to focus our attention on keeping our self as a living sacrifice we are not letting everything go. No, we are keeping everything as perfect as possible and waiting for the time God calls us to be His vessel on earth.
Reflect on: Are you keeping yourself fresh in mind and body to serve God? How much more so can this effort make us better?
