Sunday Reflection – Distance

I realized today, on a week that started with a desire to grow even closer to God, I had become even more distant. I feel like everything had my attention, except God. It does not help that I am already an easily distracted person, but this week’s focus seemed even more fractured than normal.

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8;38-39 ESV)

Of course we need scripture like this to reaffirm that no matter how fractured our attention to God is, He is never far from us. So many things vie for our time and our attention. The enemy also is continually putting distractions in our path. He wants nothing more than to see us so distracted that we cannot focus on God at all.

Today, I am working to reset next week. As I prepare this devotional and prepare to go to church my mind is fully upon God. I am wanting to level set for a week where He is in the forefront, not far behind.

Reflect on: The last week and how close you were to God. Reset today for next week.
