15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. (John 17:15 ESV)
We were not built to exist outside of the world we live in, but to be God’s stewards of the one we live in. In doing this, and doing God’s will, His desire is to keep us from the evil one. However, make no mistake, our struggle with the enemy is a real one and something that we cannot take lightly. We must be on our guard constantly, for it is not only flesh and blood we battle with but things in the heavenly realm.
These may not be comforting words, but they are what we need to understand nonetheless. Our comfort comes from knowing that God is with us in these battles and that He has already won the war. We now just live through the sometimes troubling times where the battle is real and we can feel it raging around and within.
Reflect on: Resting in the assurance of God’s love and His battle on your behalf daily against the enemy.
