19 As in water face reflects face,
so the heart of man reflects the man. (Proverbs 27:19 ESV)
Who we truly are is not so well hidden as we may think. Who we are is reflected in our words and deeds. If we are truly God’s, then the fruit of the spirit will be evident. We reflect who we truly are.
I conducted a little test some years back to better understand how others saw me. I asked my friends, family and a few others who were acquaintances to describe me in one word. What I got back was a reflection of who I was to each of them. I was a bit fearful of exactly what I would hear back, to be quite honest.
We are the sum of our actions and what people hear from us. If that sum is not something that we would want portrayed, then we must change what we say and do to reflect what we want. However, be warned, that if this is contrary to our nature, words and deeds will come across as fake or flat.
Reflect on: How others would describe you in one word. Does it reflect the Father?
