6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. (1 Corinthians 3:6-8 ESV)
Throughout my life in ministry, God has given me many chances to both plant and water people’s faith. Much of my writing has elements of both that I hope reaches far and wide to bring the message of Christ salvation or to encourage those who already believe in their faith. I have also had the ability to preach and teach both individuals and small groups.
Then there have been times when I felt like I had no place, dark nights of the soul that brought me low, where I felt alone and forgotten. Where my plant had withered in the hot sun of life and needed replanting in new fertile soil and watering by God and others so I could once again grow.
You see, the planting, watering and growth portions of our lives can be inward or outward. God takes us through many seasons so that we grow in new ways and flourish.
Reflect on: Your role in planting and watering and how God has uprooted you and replanted you elsewhere at times. We receive reward on earth and in heaven for it all.
