3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:3-4 ESV)
Looking back over the week, I have had my patience tested pretty regularly. Not in the sense of having to wait on something, I am not good at that, but testing of the limits of where my anger breaks out.
I found it interesting when looking at scripture on this I was drawn to James 1:3 and the variants in what this testing produces. You see, depending upon the translation, it can be steadfastness, or patience or endurance. In every case the scripture goes on to note that when it has its full effect we can be complete.
It can be really hard to step back from something that is testing us and reflect upon the greater good. In the moment we only want to be hurt, sad, angry….effectively selfish. Maybe we are being given the chance to grow and become more complete.
Reflect on: What work you are allowing testing to do in your life.
