It Begins With Us

17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And

“If the righteous is scarcely saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”[a]

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. (1 Peter 4:17-19 ESV)

In times of difficulty or suffering, what is the difference between the Christian and the non-Christian. Well, very obviously, we have the Holy Spirit within to intercede for us with groaning too deep for words. He communicates directly to God on our behalf.

And if we, as Christians, suffer these things, how much more so will those who do not know Christ? We have, as our scripture says, a faithful Creator to entrust with our souls. So even in difficult times we should continue to do good according to God’s will. These things, good and bad, are only allowed by God for our betterment.

This too is why we, as believers, should come alongside those who do not believe to show God’s love in every aspect of life.

Reflect on: The fact that if you are going through something rough, God has foreordained it and is there throughout.
