Treated Like Sons

It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? (Hebrews 12:7 ESV)

When I consider my childhood, I think fondly of my father. He was a good man, stern, but fair and someone who I know loved me, though he did not say it often. I know many of you may not have grown up with a good father figure. But, regardless, we all have a Father in heaven who loves us beyond measure. So much so our adoption came through the death of His own son.

In that adoption we have to accept that, as a good father, He is going to discipline us when we go astray. My worldly father did the same. Out of great love he made a point to see to my discipline and learn how to interact with the world and people properly. Our Heavenly Father does the same. However, His discipline is always pointed at turning us away from sinful ways.

He does so because he loves us like sons….and daughters.

Reflect on: How the Father is pointing you away from sin through some form of discipline.
