13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)
Endurance, we often think about this term and what comes to mind is maybe a runner or boxer. Endurance is coupled with some form of activity that required for competition. But endurance is also a component of our faith life.
When we think about endurance from a faith perspective it is not so different. Whether it is endurance in the face of temptation or endurance in running a good life race to the end, we may find we need help. The Holy Spirit is there to provide endurance when our’s is lacking. Furthermore, He is there to keep us on the right track so that we do not falter and stumble.
Elsewhere in scripture it talks about running the good race, staying strong till the end and giving our temptations over to God so that the enemy will flee. We need all these things for our endurance to truly last.
Reflect on: Areas of your faith life where you might need the Spirit to help you endure.
