1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 ESV)
Christ sacrifice provides for us two key components; salvation and freedom. I want to take a moment and focus on freedom in Christ.
We look at this freedom we are given through salvation as a covering of our sins, past, present and future. However, this freedom also provides us free will, as coming to Christ does not make us robots who only do what is right. We are still human, and broken, and we still sin. Though this sin should be something that is not habitual but momentary slips in our faith life.
We do not necessarily see sin for what it is, a yoke of slavery. True freedom comes in the lifting of this yoke and us striving to put on the white robes Christ salvation offers. We are as dirty rags without Christ salvation and the yoke of slavery to sin is heavy upon us. So why would we not turn fully to Christ!?
Reflect on: The weight of the yoke of slavery to sin in your life. Is something still weighing upon you that Christ love can lift?
