I Wait

5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long. (Psalm 25:5 ESV)

How long are you willing to wait upon the Lord?

In our “instant gratification” world I expect the answer is, not very long. I am probably the worst of the worst here. I have always moved at a brisk pace and, so far, nothing has slowed me down. But this makes me an impatient man and I am sure that translates to impatience with the Lord. I can only imagine what He will show me about my impatience when I get to heaven.

Our lives can be filled with delays. However, modern technology is minimizing those delays more and more. We expect things to come quickly and easily. Much that we had to wait for weeks or maybe months for not so many years ago now come to us in days.

When it comes to God, our timing is not His timing. His plans are not our plans. We do not want to wait for him to lead us or teach us, we just want Him to be our own personal genie who we rub from the bottle when we need.

Reflect on: Your patience, or lack there of, with the Lord
