A Calling

11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 1:11-12 ESV)

Today’s scripture has a lot to unpack. Go ahead and give it a second read before we do.

First, whether you feel like it or not, you have a calling that you are supposed to fulfill. There was a time when I argued that I did not. However, when I opened myself to the Spirit’s leading I found I was right. I did not have A calling, I had numerous callings. And God has made good on those allowing me to fulfill them with resolve and good works through His power.

But these callings, while for me, were truly for Christ. Everything I have done in His name has been to glorify Him more. He provided the grace, opportunity and ability for me to do various good works for Him both inside and outside the church.

I no longer question my calling, but only say, “here I am Lord, send me.”

Reflect on: Your calling. You have one. Ask the Spirit to reveal it to you and to give you the grace to act upon it.
