For Your Sake

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7 ESV)

Do you find it hard to pray at times? I think we all do, mostly because our minds are often a wreck from the day or from all that we have on them. The enemy loves to keep our minds distracted and on the things of this world so that we struggle in prayer.

To be self-controlled is to keep a check on our run away minds. This, not only because we need it for prayer, but we need self-control so that we keep our bodies in check. Self control is one of the mainstays of a strong faith life.

Then to be sober-minded is to keep our mind focused upon that which is of value. Too often the mind runs rampant upon thoughts that have noting to do with God. They are on all of the false evidence that appears real (FEAR) that is too the enemy’s playground. He is the accuser and father of lies, there is no truth in him.

Reflect on: Keeping yourself sober-minded and in control.
