26 on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; 27 in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food,[a] in cold and exposure. (2 Corinthians 11:26-27 ESV)
There is no doubting that Paul faced a lot of dangers during his ministry. All of the Apostles did and most died martyrs deaths. Yet, they all saw that life in Christ was worth any danger. They all knew they could not be separated from His love and salvation.
We, for the most part, do not face a lot of dangers because of our faith and our beliefs. We may face opposition and we may feel the fiery darts of the enemy, but only a fraction of us live in places where we cannot worship openly. Make no mistake, there are still people who face danger for their belief in Christ. But Christ has overcome this world and overcome death. We can speak boldly in His name.
Our ministry may lead us into uncomfortable, questionable and even dangerous situations. But we need only have faith in Christ that He will deliver us.
Reflect on: Have you faced any danger from your beliefs? If not, maybe you need to….
