8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)
Pride gets in the way of us being who God desires us to be. We think too highly of ourselves and our accomplishments. We see our lives as our doing, our effort as our own. But this is so short sighted. God makes all things work together for those who love Him. So all that we accomplish is through this great gift of God and not a result of our works. We are simply the conduit.
In many ways God provides accomplishments in our lives. We need to see them for what they are, a gift. Yes, He also gives us the skills and abilities to carry them out, but we need to look to the creator for the gift, not our own hands. We need to be thankful what God is doing through us and give Him all the glory for all we have, all we do and every success.
