7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. (Romans 13:7 ESV)
The tax man is taking an exceptionally hard bite this year and it so happens that I am also reading through Romans. Of course that means that God curbed my grumbling about paying even more taxes with scripture.
We may have little problem paying respect or honor, but do we feel the same way when we are levied taxes or have a revenue burden that seems overt? I know I am not. Especially in light of what has been being found out regarding governmental waste and fraud. It makes me resentful and angry.
But I have to take a perspective step back and realize that in this too, God has a plan. If His will is that I pay more, then I need to pay more and accept it with grace.
Reflect on: How you react when you feel that the burden is too much.
