5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[b] 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[c] being born in the likeness of men. (Philippians 2:5-7 ESV)
There is only one way to fill ourselves with Christ. That is first we must empty ourselves of what we have been.
This may seem like a tall order. To empty ourselves of who or what we have become so that Christ may fill us more fully. However, consider this. When we came to Christ we died to the old man and must make room for the new man. Otherwise, the junk left behind of our old nature will try to win out again over our new nature.
Christ emptied Himself when he took the form of man. Then he went on to live this human life and die a death of crucification for us all. He literally poured Himself out for us. How much more can we do for Him?
Life will strive to fill us one way or another. We must make a conscious choice for that filling to be of Christ.
Reflect on: What fills you and what you need to empty yourself of.
