10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)
“Be still and know that I am God.” This is probably my favorite part of a passage in the Bible. God is telling us, “I got this”. And we would do well to simply accept this.
Other translations say, “Cease striving, and know that I am God”. In either case God is trying to give us some insight into just what He is in control of in our lives. And that is everything!
We may find it hard to be still and cease striving. I mean, isn’t that everything in this world. We are to be in motion and be striving towards all of our goals every moment of every day! So why does God tell us the opposite?
He wants us to know that no matter what, He has our backs. He is there for us and is working things to His good will, even if we cannot see how that could be good in our current circumstances. God’s got this! Just know that and know that in the end He will be exalted in all the earth!
Reflect on: Your current situation and God’s sovereignty over it.
