3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV)
What kind of week did you have? Mine started pretty violently with the storm that came through the area. There is still debris that I am going to have to collect today and put out for the city to pick up. Work was pretty hectic as well and I am facing some dental work next week I am not looking forward to (I am a dental chicken).
For me, I am just looking for a weekend of comfort, rest and reflection. God took us through another storm and we came through it relatively unscathed. Others may not have been so fortunate and my week was markedly so much better and my trials were far fewer than so many others by comparison, I am sure.
Our God is the god of all comfort. He is looking for us to look away from our temporary struggles and help comfort others who are in any affliction. We work together with God to comfort one another. “For we share abundantly in Christs sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”
Reflect on: The trials and afflictions of your week. Thank God for the opportunity to suffer with Him and that He brought you through them.
