God or Man

10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant[a] of Christ. (Galatians 1:10 ESV)

Who’s approval do you seek?

We often spend our days trying to please those we work with or work for. We do so for our family and possibly friends. If we are people pleasers, we may try to do so for everyone we meet. This is a chasing after the wind.

When we change the focus of who we are working to please, life really does get better. I can truly say I am living proof of this. It is not that I do not seek to be helpful to everyone in every circumstance, but my motives have changed over the years. I no longer do this to feel better about myself or to seek standing. I do so because I seek to please God more than I see others approval.

Oh, and I am not always 100% good at this. I falter and find myself doing things with ulterior motives. But I quickly realize this now because there is always something that just feels off when I do so.

Reflect on: Who’s approval is more important to you, God or man?
