18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; (2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV)
I was reading commentary on today’s scripture and found the following from Lifeway;
“Biblical reconciliation is the process of two previously alienated parties coming to peace with each other. Because God has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, we can reconcile with each other, no longer counting our offenses against one another.”
The key in both our scripture and the above definition, is the fact that through Christ God has reconciled us to Himself. You see, God took the first step. He desires that we be reconciled with Him, so He made a path to reconciliation. Yes, we must accept Christ, but how amazing is it that God took the first step. What could show us more that He desires a relationship with us!?
Reflect on: Relationships grow cold and we tend to stray from others and God. How have you allowed your relationship to grow cold and have become alienated?
