In Part

For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:9-12 ESV)

We see life in bits in pieces. We can know only in part because we can only see this small amount of time we occupy. We may think we have insight into how things work, but if we stop and look back we realize that throughout our lives we know little.

This does not mean we should stop planning. No, we make our plans, but we must leave room for God to work. I we plan everything down to the smallest possibility there is little room for God to show us much better things.

It is like someone who has a career at the same company that spans from the time they leave school to the time they retire. This can be a really good thing, if there is room for God to work within the world we create there. It too can become a cage that we feel trapped in if there is not growth. The same can be said for our faith, if all we ever do is see in part because we do not mature, we may never see the fullness of God.
