Easy Come, Easy Go

5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. (Proverbs 23:5 NIV)

The old saying, “Easy come, Easy go”, was quipped for exactly our scripture verse today. Money is fleeting. Much like the elevation or privilege of position. And the more we turn an eye to them the more fleeting they are.

This is why scripture speaks so often to not holding on too tightly to anything. First, because being too focused upon anything other than God can creat idols in our lives. Second, because this old world is a fickle place. Things come and go very quickly.

However, when we first focus upon God and His plan for money, position, power, or really anything, He will find use for it. Nothing is wasted in God’s kingdom. We must only keep our eye upon Him and be continually open to His leading.

”…for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”
