Imparted

11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. (1 Peter 4:11 ESV)

Yesterday we looked at the importantance of our words. Today, let us look at the importance of the words we speak, when we speak of God.

This is where I worry over what I type here regarding scripture. I am no scholar, nor do I have accreditation from any seminary. I am simply a man who loves God and studies scripture. Thus, my words may not always be eloquent, nor my thoughts perfectly in line with those who have these bonifieds. However, I too do not believe that these words are mine. They are what God gives me through the Spirit and I feel compelled to write. This may be why my prep time is quite short each morning. I would rather inspiration come naturally, and from what I believe are Spirit inspired.

I believe the Bible is replete with how God works through the common man. Jesus did not send out those well trained, but He equipped those he sent. He taught them His way and words and sent them out with the Spirit within to guide them. I believe this is how He equips the lay-minister today. Do we need men and women who are traditionally taught in seminary. Yes! Very much so! But it does not mean that we who are not cannot play our part. No! Not at all!

What we who are not so classically trained need most is to pray a lot, study a lot and rely upon the Spirit a lot. In this way, our words are not our own, but those imparted to us.
