An Instrument

24 The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the Lord blessed him, (Judges 13:24 ESV)

The story of Samson, and his faithful parents, is not a story of straight lines. Samson’s mother was infertile, and his father was unsure of exactly who this angel who visited them truly was. However, they stayed true to God’s promise and brought Samson up the way they were instructed. Samson grew and became an instrument of God, but was not without his own issues with women.

Through it all, God was preparing Samson to deliver the Israelites and His plan would not be thwarted.

When we are being used as an instrument of God we need to bend ourselves to His will. Even when we are unclear just what that will might be, it is important that we stay the course. It may not even be in our lifetime that God’s plans come to fruition. It could be that he is preparing a child or another through our actions. Honoring God’s plans and promises is what is of paramount importance.

We may never clearly see just what an instrument of God our lives and our actions are being used to orchestrate. However, whenever we plant our feet solidly upon the Rock, He will use that life for His good will and those plans will bless our lives.
