2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others; (Psalm 15:2-3 ESV)
It is pretty hard to walk blamelessly. Our human nature leads us to all forms of sin, as does the world and the enemy. But we cannot give in and give up.
Our scripture gives us some really good advice on just how we should live. Paraphrased, do right, speak truth and live truth from the heart, keep a tight rein on our tongue, do not do wrong to others and uphold our brothers and sisters, casting nothing upon them.
Our nature pulls us far from these good pieces of advice, but we must not give in. We must stand strong and force ourselves to do right even when we are not feeling like it, even when our defenses are low. The problem is that we too often give in to our basal nature. We allow anger, envy and all form of other human weakness to give us reason, even justification for our sin.
This is all just giving in. We are all guilty of it and it is why we must seek always to walk blameless, even when do not think we can. God gives us a way to do so in every case. It is we who choose.
