Nothing is Impossible

13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard[a] for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” (Genesis 18:13-14 ESV)

Sarah was approaching 90 and Abraham 100 when the angel came to give them this news. It is any wonder Sarah laughed? But we should never laugh at God’s plans. From their conception came a great nation and from God’s plans with us great things can come.

But we must not laugh at those plans.

We are so limited in vision regarding how our life will pan out. We think we prepare and plan for the life we desire, but little things turn those plans upside down. But with God’s plans nothing gets in the way, other than us. Now God’s plans will not be thwarted. He will have His way, whether that be through us or through other means. But how much better that we fulfill what God has set for us to do?

In fact, I believe that plans that are far too great for our reach are exactly the types of plans God honors the most. He does so because we recognize that without Him we are simply incapable of doing what is before us. God has to be involved or there would be no way that plan succeeds. These are not stretch goals, they are the impossible. The further out, the better. If God blesses it He will see us through it. Nothing is impossible for God.
