The Need for Change

18 “Forget the former things;
    do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
    Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV)

Baggage, we all have it, but it weighs upon some more than others. I have things from the past that I wish I had done differently and consider them from time to time. But I try very hard not to let this weigh me down but for the moment I am thinking of them. I can do nothing today about those past things other than use them as lessons for the future.

We are about to move into a new year and this can be a time of getting weighed down by the past. But we need to look more toward verse 19 and see that God is doing a new thing. He is always doing a new thing in our lives if we will but let Him.

”Now it springs up: do you not perceive it?

Often times our lives can feel like a wilderness or wasteland, but God is making a new way, new springs and streams are coming forth. The key is not to get stuck in the past. Not think that we cannot change. If there is one things I know about life, that change is inevitable and necessary.
