All The Things

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[a] his own glory and excellence,[b] (3 Peter 1:3 ESV)

This scripture tells us that we have all the things. Everything needed pertaining to a godly life. But how are we using these things?

Power – we are given power in Christ name. But too often we feel week and powerless against the sin we commit, or the power He gives us over our life through faith. Many places in scripture we are told of the power God has given us if we but have faith. Yet, like the disciples, often our faith is weak. We succumb to the flesh and do not seek what God has provided.

Knowledge – we have but to ask for wisdom. Again, many places in scripture we are told that we only have to ask for wisdom to obtain it from God. He will direct us back to where He has given us His Word or we will gain insight into a matter. Often, if we will but wait on God, He will work it out. But we need to seek Godly wisdom.

Called – we are called to His own glory and excellence. When one comes to faith he is also called into God’s service. We are given gifts or talents that God wants us to use for His Kingdom. We were not put here to just reap the rewards of our work, but to work for God.
