Arrived at Truth

always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:7 ESV)

Yesterday, I read where quantum physics has proven that humans had an eternal soul. It was in a post somewhere, so who really knows what they found. However, it is a knowledge mankind has had in front of them for thousands of years. Which today’s scripture pointed out the folly of men so clearly. We can study a thing to death, but never arrive at the knowledge of the truth.

Often times it is like one of those pictures that you can stare out and, depending on the person, each have a different definition of what lies within. This is where our perception comes into play and where we, as different people, will see aspects of life differently. Something that may be a hardship to one is joyfully embraced by another. Our perceptions are informed and formed by so many individual things that each of us internalize differently. Thus, even when the truth is there we may find ourselves debating it.

Scripture points out this folly so clearly and in so many places. When we learn we must do so from a basis of truth that is inscrutable. This inscrutable truth can be hard to find, but we can be assured when that basis of truth is scripture and the inspired word of God our foundation is firm.
