11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; (Colossians 1:11 ESV)
I have a group of people I am praying for earnestly at the moment. All are facing job loss or work upheaval. I know from experience just how difficult going through times like this can be and how much prayer support is needed to get us through them. The stress of looking and interviewing for a new job. The concerns around money during times with no income. It all weighs heavy upon the mind and soul.
These times can also be a turning point in one’s faith life. They can either lead us to a deeper walk or can drive us away from God. God desires the former and the enemy is doing everything he can for the latter. It is here where a rock solid faith can be born. It is here where we learn how to cope when we only have God to rely upon.
When we are faced with times like this our faith can deepen and grow, just as we can. We cannot let it beat us, but we must rise above the circumstance and reach out to all who can help. This is not the time to be alone and allow your thoughts to turn inward to possible failures. I have known people who have come from abject ruin to a life far more fulfilling than the success they had previously known.
We must simply purpose to rise above and the best way to do so is to rise to The Above.
