6 When they did this, they caught a great number of fish, and their nets[a] began to tear. (Luke 5:6 CSB)
Have you ever gone through a discouraging time in your personal or business life? A time when nothing seems to be going right, when no matter how long you fish nothing is biting, metaphorically.
Simon Peter had just spent the day casting his nets to provide income for his family and he had come up empty handed. Now, here is this guy telling him to go back out and cast it on the other side of the boat. Did he seriously think that changing sides would make a difference!?
But he wearily complied and found his little boat swamped with more fish than they could haul in. In that moment everything changed for Simon Peter.
Maybe this is a point in time where everything could change for you, if you will but cast your net on the other side of the boat. Too often we simply keep doing the same things and waiting for something to change. Either we are unwilling to change or we are unwilling to take a risk to do something different. We are stuck fishing in the same dry side of the boat.
Maybe it is time to cast out in a new space, a new place, one where Christ can be more a part of what you are doing. Sometimes it simply takes one more cast and consulting the right fisherman.
