8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.
Lord, your faithful love endures forever;
do not abandon the work of your hands. (Psalm 138:8 CSB)
For many, life is just lived day to day without much purpose other than making it day to day. Even those who seem to live highly successful lives may have a plan to continue to be successful and goals to meet those ends. But are they living only for themselves or for something greater?
We may know the names of greatly famous and successful people, but can we really see the legacy of their lives? Just because someone became famous or was greatly successful does not mean they left any kind of meaningful legacy.
God gives us both a purpose and works with us to fulfill His plan in our lives which will leave a legacy. We do not live for just our selves, but must endeavor to live it for those around us, those who God puts in our path. The greatly famous or greatly successful often only lived life for themselves. The legacy they left is just one of who they were or what they had. Those who leave a legacy of a life lived for others leaves a lasting legacy indeed.
