Latent Power Within

20 Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us— 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21 CSB)

What we ask the Lord for is often small and maybe even petty. We should dream big in the Lord and watch what he does with those dreams. But we have to do so based upon expecting Him to do something that may be way outside our comfort zone.

Our God is not necessarily the god of comfort. He knows that we need to be stretched beyond our capabilities, He knows we need to not have what it takes. Why so? Because through our inability and weakness, His strength and capabilities are manifest. Otherwise we might boast of what we are capable of.

The interesting thing is that this capability is already within us. You see our scripture spells this out. We are capable “to do above and beyond all we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” It is already there, waiting to be tapped into.

If you are feeling weak and incapable today, know that there is a power working within you. A power that is available to all believers through faith. But you must ask and pray and seek. None of this happens if we are dormant in the faith and simply waiting for God to do it all for us. His power is made manifest through our actions. Note I did not say through our abilities. No, through our actions, if they are aligned with God’s. How can we know if we are aligned? The outcomes will make this clear and God’s blessings upon that which we endeavor to do in His name will always succeed.
