1 God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you.
I thirst for you;
my body faints for you
in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water. (Psalm 63:1 CSB)
Have you ever been really dehydrated from a long day outside when it was really hot and dry? Remember that burning desire for cool, clear water? The Psalmist is wanting you to recall that feeling and see that you need God every bit as much. Our bodies should thirst and faint from a lack of God’s Living Water in our lives.
It has been a long and exceptionally hot summer here in Texas. Next week is supposed to be a bit cooler and I know how much many of us are looking forward to even slightly cooler temperatures. However, a really hot summer may mean a really cold winter. The weather changes constantly and we must just deal with its nature. But God does not change and no matter how dry, desolate and without water our lives may feel, His grace and mercy abounds.
There is one thing that our scripture says right off that we must do, however, We must eagerly seek Him. If we are not seeking him throughout our lives we may continue to feel that parched feeling that comes without the Living Water we so need.
