An Elevated State

4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act, (Psalm 37:4-5 CSB)

I wrote recently on praying as if something has already happened and praying through our difficulties with thanksgiving. Today, our scripture tells us that when we delight and trust in God, He will give us our heart’s desires.

Now, this has a caveat that we delight in the Lord, commit our ways to Him and trust him. Then He will act.

You see, when our heart is aligned with God’s heart, His desires become our desires. The things of the world tend to pass away and we exist on a slightly higher plain. We are no longer swayed by the petty happenings around us and we are elevated in a way where we can let go, a bit, of worldly desires.

This elevation in our heart and head help us to look at everything differently. It becomes a state where can put the world into perspective. We are no longer looking for simply our wants and desires, but are seeing beyond them to the greater good. Our success is less focused upon us and more focused on where God is leading and what He has for us to do.

An elevated state, like this, becomes a basis for our very attitude toward every event in our lives. Our outlook is less weighed down by the petty happenings around us but looks beyond to God’s greater plan. In this we can commit and trust in all He will do.
