14 And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide,[a] so today it is said, “It will be provided[b] on the Lord’s mountain.” (Genesis 22:14 CSB)
How much do you trust God to provide?
Much of our fears and anxieties come out of a lack of trust in our Lord. Abraham was about to sacrifice his one and only son because God told him to. But at the last moment God intervened and provided a ram instead. The Lord Will Provide.
But in our human frailty and doubting nature we do not believe. We, too often, take circumstances in our own hands and try to out think God. If you have read many of my devotions you will know that I write on this often. I do so to remind you and to remind myself that God is our greatest provision. I have come to realize that most often my fear and anxiety are based more on a lack of trust in myself rather than God.
The problem is that we are typically looking for a very specific outcome and do not recognize God’s provision in a different answer. Our anxiety kicks in because, unlike Abraham, we are not willing to give everything (really anything) up for God. We want His provision on our terms.
So a hard question to ask today is what is the Lord trying to provide that may be inconsistent with our expectations? As such, what are we missing out on that the Lord is trying to give freely? The Lord Will Provide.
