23 “Then the master told the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and make them come in, so that my house may be filled. (Luke 14:23 CSB)
Are you comfortable at home? Do you just like the solitude and the quite? I sure do. After the hustle and bustle of a difficult week, a nice quiet weekend at home is just the ticket. But I have to remind myself that I have a different mission. We all have a different mission. There is a big world out there that is just yearning to hear about Christ, even if they do not necessarily realize it. Their need is acute even if it is unrecognized in this way.
Now, my other comfortable place is the highways and hedges. I love being out on either my motorcycle or a bicycle. In fact there are times I prefer them to being home. While out there I strive to look for any divine appointment and if I am open to them God has brought many people my way.
God gives us a chance to be His envoy to the world around us and then to bring those who have been in the world into His church. We are perfectly suited to take this message into the world and convey to others exactly what God can do for them and how much He loves them.
I will continue to enjoy taking God’s message out to the highways and hedges.
