What Remains

8 The grass withers, the flowers fade,
but the word of our God remains forever. (Isaiah 40:8 CSB)

The grass withers and the flowers fade.

All things are passing away.

There is little today that stands the test of time. People grow old and die. Things break or rust. Even our structures, left untended, are reclaimed by the land.

But there is one thing that does stand the test of time, God’s Word.

This is not some passing comment. Look at how this one book has stood the test of time. Things written so very long ago still hold relevance in today’s world. The Bible still speaks to our every day life and our current time. We can read our lives into it’s scripture because what God inspired men to write is His Word and is timeless.

Many attack the Bible and try to undermine its relevance with arguments against it. But the reality is that those arguments fall moot in light of the power of scripture. All of man’s striving to decry it’s relevance will one day be put to the test in heavenly realms.

I have said it before regarding belief in God and scripture; “if I am wrong I have lost nothing, but if I am right I have gained everything!”
